About Erich Yost

Erich Yost is a government official. He is currently a management analyst at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

HUD works to meet the need for quality affordable rental homes, utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life, and build inclusive and sustainable communities that are devoid of discrimination. Its overall mission is to ensure quality and affordable homes. The agency was founded in 1965.

Yost’s work at HUD focuses on building public-private partnerships that lift communities out of poverty through a multifaceted effort. He’s working to increase affordable housing by preserving any existing affordable housing and partnering with developers to increase the supply of new affordable housing. Yost is also trying to ensure that young people have access to high-quality public education and technical training opportunities.

As well, Yost is a promoter of transit-oriented development that can help attract new businesses and create jobs. He actively works on government incentive programs such as Opportunity Zones and the Promise Zones Initiative.

Before joining HUD in 2010, Yost was chief financial officer and co-founder of the Little Black Dress Fashion Jewelry Collection Inc. The organization sold wholesale products via direct sales and through television shopping networks. He was also previously the director of asset and investment management at Edison Capital Housing Investments.

Yost graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
