About Julia Martin

Julia Martin is a tax attorney. She currently serves a partner at Bousquet Holstein PLLC, a full-service law firm based in Syracuse, New York.

Established in 1961, Bousquet Holstein has expanded its scope of practice from real estate development-related legal services to a diverse range of legal fields, including family law, corporate law, immigration, employment and labor law, tax planning, intellectual property, litigation and mediation. With a multidisciplinary team of over 30 attorneys, the firm advises companies, nonprofits and individuals from a broad spectrum of industries, including real estate, banking and financing, venture capital and private placement, telecommunications, health care, agriculture and energy.

Martin has been with the firm since 2009, first as an associate attorney then as a partner. As an experienced legal advisor with expertise in tax and business matters, Martin focuses her practice on individual and corporate taxation in the state of New York.

From income tax planning to the compliance with federal and state tax codes, Martin helps clients navigate complex tax situations. She maintains working relationships with many taxation and financial agencies in the state of New York, which equips her with the knowledge to devise beneficial tax solutions for her clients. Martin is particularly conversant with tax credits, seeking applicable tax credits and legal guidance for her clients to create tax-efficient portfolios. Martin also works closely with individual clients on retirement planning and personal taxation optimization.

Prior to joining Bousquet Holstein, Martin worked as a legal intern at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.

Martin obtained her bachelor’s degree in policy studies and her juris doctor from Syracuse University. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Central New York Women’s Bar Association and New York State Bar Association’s environmental law section, brownfields task force and social media task force. She is also a member of the Syracuse Stage Board of Trustees.
